Abstract

Tuberculosis (tb) is an infectious disease whose causative agent is Mycobacterium tuberculosis that, from the initial stages of its attack on the human body, can cause lymphatic or hematogenous dissemination to any organ or tissue of the body.1,2 Although the pulmonary location is the most frequent, it is not the only one, since Koch's bacillus can enter the human body through different entry ports.1,2,3 All forms of extrapulmonary TB are practically derived from hematogenous seeding secondary to the primary infection.3,4,5 The treatment of extrapulmonary TB does not differ from the pulmonary location, that is, from the conventional one, only that depending on its location, individualized treatment is carried out, with variation in the amount of drugs to be used, the time of duration and the use of corticosteroids and when required, the use of corrective surgery and physiotherapy.
