Abstract

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and osteoporosis are important health problems of the adult population with common risk factors involving cholesterol biosynthesis and lipid oxidation, so the search for substances with beneficial actions on both targets is a current line of research. There are several links between osteoporosis and CVD, including the epidemiological association between mass reduction bone marrow and the increase in these diseases with age and the concurrence, known as the calcium paradox, of demineralization bone and arterial mineralization. The presence in calcified arteries of hydroxyapatite, bone proteins and others can also be mentioned. factors secreted by cells of the osteoblastic bone line and the deficiency of estrogens that both promotes atherosclerosis, causes underlying CVD, such as primary osteoporosis.
