Abstract

The Ecopharmacovigilance is an emerging designed science to concerning detection, assessment and prevention and reduced the adverse effects caused by the presence of drugs that are discarding in the environment. Over recent years, they have identified drug residues and metabolites on both wastewater and rivers, even treated potable water. It is necessary to sensitize the correct method of disposal of pharmaceuticals and identify the impact these can have on environmental pollution. A systematic review in bibliographic databases (PubMed / MEDLINE, Science) and through public internet magazines manually was conducting. It is estimate that the worldwide, 100,000 tons of antibiotics are consuming annually; these products are releasing into the environment, which can affect humans and other species. It is necessary to Implement measures on disposal of expired pharmaceutical residues: as monitors exposure and environmental impact, treatment plants, the development of biodegradable products and education on the rational use of drugs, and deposition of expired drugs in secure containers as is doing the company SINGREM (National Waste Management System Drug Packaging).
