SENSORY EVALUATION OF AN ALOE VERA AND HONEY PROTECTIVE CREAM DEVELOPED BY THE MEDIVERDE LOCAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
Abstract
The Aloe Vera and Honey protective cream, is a cosmetic product, with natural ingredients that have therapeutic properties, among which are: anti-inflammatory, healing and re-epithelializing. The objective of this study was to carry out a sensory evaluation of the Aloe Vera and Honey protective cream, produced by the Mediverde Local Development Project, to measure the intensity of its sensory attributes, to know the level of consumer liking according to age and to determine if there is a correlation in the sensory attributes evaluated. The affective method was used, through a survey applied to 100 study subjects. One gram of the product was applied to the anterior region of the forearm of the participants. A hedonic scale was used to evaluate the following attributes: extensibility, texture (sandiness), appearance (shine) and level of liking. Each evaluation was assigned a numerical value. The extensibility was evaluated as good and remained constant regardless of age, the texture is homogeneous (not sandy), it has a slightly shiny appearance and the level of liking was positive with a homogeneous tendency, regardless of age. The sensory evaluation of the Aloe Vera and Honey protective cream was very favorable, more than 90% of the evaluators considered the analyzed attributes positive, it has a good level of consumer liking regardless of age and there is a correlation in the sensory attributes evaluated. Therefore, it is recommended to be used for the reinforcement of the skin barrier function and the skin barrier, sensitive skins and those suffering from some type of dermatitis
