GENERATION OF PRODUCTS FOR THE NEUROTECHNOLOGY BASED ON THE CUBAN CENTER FOR NEUROSCIENCE EXPERIENCES
Abstract
Neurotechnology, as a scientific field, is an interdisciplinary field in constant transformation. In Cuba, its development has been significantly driven by the work of the Cuban Center for Neuroscience (CNEURO). The objective is to present advancements in the generation of biotechnology products for the neurotechnology based on CNEURO's experiences. A qualitative research study with an exploratory approach was conducted through a document review. Google Scholar was utilized to search for scientific publications in indexed in Scielo, Scopus and Web of Science. Additionally, conference articles, publications from the Cuban newspaper Granma (digital version) and user manuals for the products were included. A total of 49 results were analyzed, out of which 22 were selected. Interviews with CNEURO researchers were also conducted to improve the study. The generation of products focused neurotechnology was categorized into software systems and medical equipment and medical devices. A diverse portfolio of CNEURO products, their history, and evolution is described. Over more than 30 years, these products have benefited public health and education in Cuba while contributing to increased export revenues for the national economy. CNEURO has achieved remarkable progress through its focus on innovation and strategic collaborations at both national and international levels. The progress of products for the neurotechnology in Cuba is essential for the country's sustainable development.
