Método de la membrana corioalantoidea del embrión de pollo: una alternativa en la experimentación toxicológica y farmacológica

Abstract

Hen's egg test on chorioallantoic membrane is an alternative method for toxicological and pharmacological tests. The introduction of this test supposes an experimental strategy for animal disuse, since Cuba requires compliance with international regulations on ethics and safety of laboratory animals in pharmacological and toxic studies through the principles of Replace, Reduce, Refine. The objective of this review work is to characterize the hen's egg test on chorioallantoic membrane, as well as to describe method and the advantages that assay provides as an alternative to use of experimental animals. For this, all the published information that was available in the PubMed database was collected. A brief description was made focused on the structure and hen's egg test on chorioallantoic membrane, as well as the toxicological and pharmacological tests that use said structure. In addition, an analysis was carried out regarding the scope of the test results and about the bases that favor the introduction of the test in the experimental models. This document summarizes in an organized way all the results that ensure and support the benefit of the introduction of the method in toxicological and pharmacological tests. It is concluded that the chorioallantoic membrane method constitutes a safe alternative for toxicological and pharmacological tests and favors the implementation of the “three R's”.
