Abstract

The leaves essential oil of Eugenia melanadenia (Myrtales:
Myrtaceae) was examined by GC and GC-MS. From the seventy-five identified
constituents representing 98.8 % of the oil, 1,8-cineol (45.3 %) was the
major components, besides terpinen-4-ol (10.6 %), b-cymene (8.2 %), b-
eudesmol (7.0 %) and a-terpineol (6.7 %). The biological activity againsts
Blattella germanica was tested. Six dosifications of the oil from leaves were
tested against the german cockroach Blattella germanica and were found
the values of the LD50 (19.65 %) and DL95 (84.65 %) and a diagnostic doses,
using a probit-log programme.
