Abstract

Since the first works carried out in the field of crystallization, it has always been a challenge to control the size and final distribution of the particles. These properties began to become particularly important in the last two decades, when the development of the fine chemical, pharmaceutical and electronics industries have boomed. In the nineteenth century there was little progress in the semiconductor or microelectronics industry due, among other things, to the incipient results that existed at such early dates in the field of crystallization. The same happens with the obtaining of new galenic forms, in which the need to produce crystals of specific size, or of particularly narrow particle distributions, are those that define the forms of drug release in the different fluids of humans and animals.
