Abstract

Recently there has been a development in the biological research of acridones, an heterocycle family which has antitumoral and antiviral activity. In the base structure of the acridones, there is a hard centre, the oxigen (most electronegative atom) and soft centre, the nitrogen. According to the Simbiosis Principle, which stays that reaction occurs more rapidly between hard-hard or softsoft systems, the alkylation reaction must occur in the centre of the nucleophile which is equal in hardness to the electrophile. Due to the importance of the acridones's properties in,this work the altainment and the studies of N/O alkylates of this family were realized using liquid-liquid phase-transfer catalysis (PTC) as a non conventional technique . In the alkylation reactions with methyl sulfate under
PTC, the O-alkylation products were obtained as the only derivative. This is a regiospecific reaction, because while it is possible to obtain two structural isomers Is\-alny1ilte and U-aiiiylatu), use 0-alkylate es the only one obtained. While in the alkylation reaccion
sing ethyl bromide in phase transfer con-ditions, the reaction is also regiospecific, because even though it is possible to obtain two sn-nefi raI iso ^e s !N/n alkylated) the N-alkylated is the only one obtained.
