Abstract

In the instrumental methods of analysis, tbe study of calibration is a paramowu aspect because it allows quantitative estimation of analyte concentration. Traditionally the classic unvaried calibration is used. In the last decade an increasing number of papers related 10 the use of Multivaried Calibration have been publishe:I mainly in the fields of Atomic and Molecular Spectros::opies. Multiva·ied technique, allows the simulta1eous inclusion of multiple analytical signals that can increase precision, accuracy and applicibiliry of analytical methods. The presem paper show.; methodologic:al criteria for the appliaition of Multiva-ied Calibráion Methods which are exemplififfl with data from literature and trom author's laboratory .An analysis is done in orderto select the-view, models and more appropriate methods. The following techniques are compara:!: Multiple Linear Regre$iOn, Principal Compom:ms Regre$iOn and Partía! Least Squares for the treatment of I ine¡r- models. Statistiml criteria are sugges;ed for tbe selection of the best calibrationmodel.
