Abstract

The CIGB-814 synthetic peptide is produced at the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB). Between the stages of obtaining it, the chemical synthesis is carried out starting from a resin mass of 50 g. This immunomodulatory peptide constitutes the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) of the drug Jusvinza; it has been used for the treatment of patients who have improved with the SARS-CoV-2 virus as well as those who have reached a serious and critical state. Due to its great efficiency and high demand, it became necessary to increase its production. Given this situation, a study of the process variables is carried out to increase the starting resin mass from 50 to 150 g. Mass spectrometry analytical techniques are used to determine their identity and RP-HPLC for the degree of purity, obtaining positive results in each one. Through a statistical analysis, the best operating condition in the stage is determined, this being a mass of resin equal to 150 g and a depression speed of 80 min-1. With these results, good mixing without turbulence is guaranteed, the amount of crude peptide obtained is increased, and the demand for the product is satisfied
