Abstract

Water is essential for all forms of life, which makes it one of the essential resources of nature. However, increasing population density and industrialization mean that water sources are in a state the dangerous. Together with excess consumption and droughts, the introduction of compounds harmful to human health in aquifers is one of the most serious threats to the world's water sources. Many compounds classified as pollutants are naturally present in the environment, being even tolerated by organisms. However, the fact that many of these contaminants are completely man-made and not biodegradable, causes their accumulation in quantities above safe limits and causes contamination problems to long term.
