Abstract

Most of the energy consumed by internal combustion engines worldwide comes from Petroleum. With the depletion of this resource, which is not renewable, it is necessary to search for fuels alternatives to replace the traditional ones in internal combustion engines (ICM), both in transport automotive as well as stationary engines. In the case of alternative fuels for automotive transportation, biodiesel (BD) and ethanol are the ones that most attention they receive in the world in terms of the development of their production technology and use in MCI. The first report use of biofuels from oilseed plants dates back to 1900, when Rudolf Diesel (1858-1913), Inventor of the diesel engine, he used vegetable oil to demonstrate his invention. In the past thirties century, vegetable oils were used as an energy alternative in certain situations.
