Abstract

The silver and gold colloid and the thin film obtained from them
have many applications in the medical and biological sciences. Therefore it is
important to research their chemical and physical properties that determine
their application. The optical properties of colloid and the thin film is a very
great field of research due to the great quantity of information that is obtained
from them, from the point of view of the basic research and the application. In
this paper we present the results of the measurement of extinction coefficient
(Cext.) for a silver colloid sintered by citrate reduction method taking different
velocities for the addition of the reductor. Also the transmittance for several
thin films deposited on glass substrate was measured. For the colloid the
maximum of the plasmon resonance curve and its line with were determined.
In the firs case a red shift it is found and in the second one a tendency to increase
is observed. For the thin film, obtained by evaporation of the colloid deposited
on a glass substrate, the beginning of the enhanced transmission (ET), I/I0 > 1,
is displaced to the violet (V) and the ultraviolet (UV) region of the spectra. Another
interesting aspect, in the case of the film, is the complex structure of some lines
that show local maximum and minimum values. The authors do not know that
the displacement to the V and UV for the beginning of
